Project Monitoring Principles

To follow an order as a project you must create special items containing PR as the reorder policy. They can be on any level of the bill of material, but you can only monitor a component managed by project if its parent item is itself managed by project. In the bill of material of a parent item managed by project, you may find some items managed by project and others that are not. The components managed by project are managed in the same way as the ones having a ‘Lot for Lot’ reorder policy.

In the above example, the items FG, SA1, SA3, CP2, CP3 and PP1 can be monitored. Item PP1 cannot be monitored because its parent item (CP1) has not the PR reorder policy code.

When a component is managed ‘by project’, the purchase requisitions or work orders are identified by the project number (which is the Sales order number of Project type).

It is then possible to identify every order or requisition concerning a project to monitor its progress.
