Work Order Operation Maintenance

Before a firm work order is started, the corresponding operations can be deleted, cancelled or modified. In order to create a new operation (i.e. an operation which is not mentioned in the initial manufacturing routing), it is necessary to enter an operation number that places the operation correctly in the operation sequence and afterwards to fill all the fields.

When an operation is removed, it disappears from the file.

Fields

All these fields come from the routing operation that was used for the release.

Operation Id:

Mandatory (three digits). If the number exists, the operation is shown.

Work center Id
Description
Set-up time
Preparation labor time
Machine Run Time
Labor Run Time
Quantity per time
Quantity per cycle
Move time
Fixed scrap
Proportional scrap:

Refer to the description of the Routing Operation page for the meaning of the many different fields of this page.

Counting point:

The last operation has to be a counting point.

Machine Id:

If a machine code has been assigned in the manufacturing routing, the code is displayed in this field and is not modifiable. The Imposed box is filled.

If the work order has been scheduled, this field contains the machine code to which the operation had been allocated.

If the operation has to be processed on a specific machine in a work center, it is possible to indicate the corresponding machine code and then check the Imposed box.

Tool:

This field specifies the tool to use for the operation. The referred tool must appear in the Tool table.

Buttons

Library

This button displays the library operation list. To create an operation, it is necessary to enter a new operation number, and afterwards to select an operation in this list.

Cancellation

This button cancels the operation in the order, without deleting it from the file. The status of the operation is changed to Canceled. The operation will be ignored in scheduling and in control.
Clicking again on the
Cancellation button could reactivate a canceled operation.

Destinations

This button enables one to enter or to modify destinations of parts if network routings are used.

This page has three tabs:

the Times tab allows the modification or entry of the manufacturing times,

the Control tab shows the quantities to process and the standard hours,

The labor standard time is equal to the labor set-up time plus the product of the order quantity by the labor run time (divided by the units of time and the cycle time units).

The machine standard time is equal to the set-up time plus the product of the order quantity multiplied by the machine time (divided by the units of time and the throughput time units).

The Dates tab shows the scheduled dates, which are calculated by the Material Requirements Planning function or by the Sched. button, as well as the dates scheduled by finite capacity scheduling. The Waiting time field contains the number of hours the batch must wait before being processed on the planned start date.
