In order to fill the finished parts requirements, it is also possible to manually create a work order. It is worth noting that when a work order is manually created, the corresponding material requirements are automatically generated for each component of the item. These requirements will be taken into account in future MRP calculations. Simultaneously, the operations corresponding to the release routing are also created.
Such manual creation of work orders permits implementing buffer stocks, for example in order to smooth the shop floor work load.
In order to manually create a work order, the Firm Work order function must be launched (Scheduling menu). Afterwards, when clicking on the New button, a work order number is automatically allocated to the new order. The relevant item code has to be entered in the corresponding field. The corresponding release routing code is then displayed, as well as the routing revision code.
The new order can be immediately scheduled (if the planning schedules of the machines exist) using the Schedule button. Afterwards, the scheduled order can be immediately started if sufficient raw material and components are available in stock.
