To manage distribution, it is necessary to define distribution centers from which the goods are delivered. A distribution center is a particular warehouse towards which one will emit transfer orders.
The different distribution centers are defined in the distribution center table. They are regarded as particular warehouses.
To define a warehouse, one selects the Table Maintenance function (Distributiona menu), and enter:
• the code of the distribution center,
• its description,
• the transportation time (in days) of the goods from the plant to the distribution center,
• and, possibly, the capacity of the distribution center expressed in the number of cells with pallets.
The
Number of Cells field specifies the number of pallets the warehouse can
accommodate. This capacity can be compared to the number of pallets stored in
the warehouse or required due to distribution planning. The required number of
pallets is calculated from the Quantity per pallet field on the Item
Maintenance Window.
The Distribution Cost Center enables one
to record the cost center associated to the inventory
adjustments.
The cell Distance (in km) enables one to compute the transportation cost corresponding to the Transfer Order Shipping.
